TUSK’s unique film programme is an increasingly important part of the annual festival and grows in adventure every year – to celebrate its place in our unique festival programming, the TUSK 2018 film programme will this year be free entry to all, meaning lovers of film can enjoy over 5 hours of ‘out there’ film-making they’re unlikely to see anywhere else.

This year our film programme includes:

  • Full Mantis, Jake Meginsky’s hotly-tipped documentary of drummer and free jazz legend Milford Graves, hailed as re-writing the rules of documentary making
  • The UK premiere of Ice Pick To The Moon: The Story of The Rev. Fred Lane And The Raudelunas – the crazed story of “The Rev. Fred Lane from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He’s an obscure, wildly strange, pants-free, Band-Aid adorned, out-there singer / performance artist who has had a cult following since the Eighties“
  • Eddie Prevost’s Blood – a portrait of the seminal UK musician and his life, through the formation of the legendary AMM and beyond
  • Rajasthan Live Cinema – Seb Bassleer and Maarten van der Glas’s multi-sensory live remixing of their mind-wobbling filmic journey to the sacred Indian city of Pushkar and its famous camel fair and religious rituals
  • Indian Summer – a new short piece by Jef Mertens, who made the great Borbetomagus documentary A Pollock Of Sound, some of which was filmed at TUSK 2014
  • The world premiere of Cathy Soreny’s Adam Bohman documentary, a portrait of the singular UK musician and artist who also appears live at TUSK 2018

Plus the world premiere of Dai Coelacanth’s film Jennifer’s Face Is Full Of Coffins, Amy Cutler’s Incantations From Tne Yin Valley with soundtrack by Bridget Hayden and John Macedo’s Colours & Shapes: Portraits Of Free Improvisers featuring John Edwards, Phil Minton and Steve Noble.

Over 5 hours of otherworldly film-making you’re unlikely to see anywhere else – and all for free, whether you have a festival ticket or not.
