Founded in 2008, by Manchester-based trumpeter, composer and producer Matthew Halsall, Gondwana Records, turned 10 last autumn. Originally founded to shine a light on the Manchester scene, Gondwana Records is one of the UKs most influential jazz (and beyond) record labels, launching GoGo Penguin on the world and now home to an international roster featuring artists from as far afield as Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia.
Featuring the ethereal folk and trance influenced Mammal Hands from Norwich, powerful electro-soul outfit Noya Rao from Leeds and a rare performance from Matthew Halsall & The Gondwana Orchestra performing his trademark rain-streaked spiritual jazz from Manchester. Rising-star singer-songwriter Caoilfhionn (pronounced Keelin) Rose from Manchester and Polish piano sensation Hania Rani perform compositions inspired by Icelandic landscapes and the Polish Bieszczady mountains.
