A Seminar Led By Europe Jazz Network (EJN) reporting on their work underway to address this issue amongst their 120 member organisations and stimulating discussion on ways forward both in the UK and across Europe.

Amongst those leading the discussion will be Ros Rigby, EJN President and Producer of the Gateshead International Jazz Festival, EJN members Terese Larsson (Svensk Jazz), Annamaija Saarela (Annamaija Music Company, Finland) Sunna Gunnlaugs (Reykjavik Jazz Festival and musician) and Kenneth Killeen (Improvised Music Company, Dublin), Kim Macari (Jazz from Scotland), Steve Mead (Manchester Jazz Festival) plus other EJN members, EJN staff and also members of the UK’s Jazz Promotion Network.

Musician, composer and teacher Issie Barratt, who is in residence at the Festival working with Jambone, teaching at the Play Jazz workshop and presenting her groundbreaking INTERCHANGE project featuring the work of ten UK female jazz composers (7.45 pm Sage Two April 8) will also talk about her work on redressing the gender balance.
